Private by design. Syncing runs through a Safari extension that can only read your Kindle notebook page (read.amazon.com) — Safari enforces it. Your Amazon password never touches NeuraCache, and your highlights stay on your device.

How it works

NeuraCache imports your highlights straight from your Amazon Kindle notebook. Every book becomes a deck, and every highlight (plus your margin note, if you wrote one) becomes a card you can review with spaced repetition. Available on iPhone and iPad with NeuraCache 3.2 or later.

Set up once

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → NeuraCache Kindle Import and turn it on.

    2. If you use Private Browsing, also turn on Allow in Private Browsing.

  2. The first time the extension runs on read.amazon.com, Safari asks for permission — choose Allow.

Sync your highlights

  1. In NeuraCache go to Cards → Sources → Kindle and tap Sync Highlights. Your Kindle notebook opens in Safari — it must be Safari; other browsers can't run the extension. Sign in to Amazon there if asked.
  2. Tap ⬆︎ Sync highlights to NeuraCache at the top of the page.
  3. Pick the books you want (or Select All) and tap the Sync button. Keep the page open until it says Done.
  4. Tap Open NeuraCache on the page (or just switch back to the app) — your books import automatically and show up under Kindle in Cards and Decks.

Syncing again — repeat the steps anytime to pull in new highlights. Existing cards are updated in place and your review progress is kept. The page remembers which books you selected last time, so ticking just a new book is the quickest way to add it.

Visual quote cards (Premium)

Review each highlight as a quote card colored by its book's cover, with the title, author, and your note. Pick your style in Settings → Review → Kindle Highlights — Visual shows the quote card, Classic renders the plain text like every other card. You'll also be asked the first time you review a Kindle card.

No sync button on the page?

  • ⚠️ Make sure the page opened in Safari — other browsers can't run the extension.
  • ⚠️ Using Private Browsing? Turn on Allow in Private Browsing for the extension.
  • ⚠️ Screen Time → Content Restrictions → Web Content must be Unrestricted — even "Limit Adult Websites" disables all Safari extensions. Restart your device after changing it.
  • ⚠️ Can't enable the extension at all (everything greyed out)? A screen-time app may be blocking it — disable it, then restart.
  • 🌍 Amazon account outside the US? Open your region's notebook in Safari directly — for example read.amazon.co.uk/notebook or read.amazon.de/notebook — the extension works on all Kindle regions.
  • 🔄 Then reload the page.

Removing Kindle cards

Cards → Sources → Kindle → Clear Kindle Data deletes all Kindle cards and books from NeuraCache. Your highlights stay on Amazon — syncing again re-imports them as new cards.
